About Me (Education, Interests, Professional experience)
I am an elementary teacher in Ontario, and also completeing PhD studies in education. My focus in teaching in addition to language and mathematics is geography. In grade 8 my students learn about human geography, that is the relationship between humans and the earth. Three areas of interest are population patterns, economy and migration. Already in grade 8 students are expected to get a firm grounding in how people around the world interact with their environment. Sustainability is a key element of this understanding.
Area of Expertise
What is your vision for a sustainable future?
I believe that education is fundamental to any attempts to create a world where sustainability is a guiding principle. It is critical to engage youth in this discussion and allow them the opportunities to discern the importance of a sustainable future.
