This is a space for discussing women's critical perspectives on the "green" economy.

There is concern that post Rio+20 "Green" Economy activities might be used and misused to green-wash existing unsustainable economic practices that lead to inequities and infringe on the rights of effected peoples and future generations. Should Rio+20 not fundamentally aim to transform the current economic paradigm?

This is a space to discuss the potential impacts on women of the proposed expansion of the "green" economy.  What does a genuinely sustainable economy look like?  How can Rio+20 support the role of women in initiatives and projects that contribute to sustainable food systems and livelihoods?  Are "green" technologies part of the solution?

I believe that as women are rising around the world, the next consumer demand will be for "woman made products."  There is great opportunity for women entrepreneurs if we have access to the marketplace both locally and on the internet.  " Market Access is a critical issue and important for funding to be focused in this direction.

At GreenWomanStore.com we are working in this direction, and I am happy to collaborate with women entrepreneurs worldwide.  One of our goals is to be able to provide scholarships to women scholars and women in green business to attend int'l gatherings on Sustainable Development, Peace and Women.  We are not there yet, but I know personally the value of scholarships, and of having grassroots women testifying at these gatherings. There is a lot of evidence from ancient and existing women-centered cultures that can be applied today to benefit all.

I agree, Mahfuja.  Education is the first resource necessary for women, then financial support and market access.
