The creation of green jobs is definitely a starting point to creating a sustainable and healthy world. Places near the equator are most affected by climate change and many countries in Africa are suffering from extreme weather changes and drought as well as resource exploitation. Creating jobs, especially sustainable jobs should be a key focus at the Rio conference if we want to build a better future.

Do you have any specific strategies or jobs in mind ? We would love to hear your thoughts.

There is need to promote clean energy options. Some countries in Africa are downed with huge potential of renewable energy such as geothermal, Solar, wind and biomass.

The low-level of electricity access in many Africa nations means that the markets are right at hand. This therefore, means, putting more energy in and money towards the manufacturing of innovative green technologies is key. It would be important to develop a program to promote efficient cookstoves for schools and community centers.

Building partnerships with donors that can support training programs building capacity of grass-root communities, especially the women who identify technology and knowledge-based solutions to local issues. Training in green jobs is the key.
